Sister Restaurant | Dallas

Sister restaurant caught my eye as I searched the Lower Greenville restaurant and bar scene. I was excited to celebrate my birthday in a spot that was new to me, and I have always wanted to try Leela’s Wine bar in Lower Greenville so I thought, “Why don’t I Just find a restaurant close by as well?” It’s no surprise that the pink neon Sister sign caught my eye, but It wasn’t just the neon… It was the name Sempre Sister. Sempre is Italian for always. Sister Always or Always Sister I’m not sure how It was intended, but the meaning spoke to my heart as I have a sister I hold dear to my heart now and always as well.

As I clicked through the images online, I couldn’t get over the eclectic decor and beautiful design. The restaurant was full of life and I hadn’t even been there yet. Sempre Sister serves Italian food, pastas that are made from scratch daily, wood-fired meat and fish, and a variety of sides and small plates. The Italian menu was very appealing and the restaurant looked like a quaint trattoria, which I miss from our travels to Italy. We searched for reservations for 6, weeks prior, and were not successful, so we changed our plans to accommodate a larger group.

When the time came, for whatever reasons the group quickly dwindled. While I was slightly bummed for a few minutes, I decided to shift my mindset and look at the positive… this meant we could possibly get into Sister! There were only three of us! I checked for a reservation for three, but again not successful. I thought, “Wow, Sister must be one amazing place.” Before my search I had not heard of It or seen people posting about It.

Birthday

Fast forward to the day of celebration…

Aaron and I got ready at the Adolphus Hotel where we were staying for the night. We decided our best chance was arriving for an early dinner. Cake in hand, adorned in sequins, I walked in hopeful for a spot. The host so very kindly responded with “We are fully booked for the night… I don’t even think there is a space at the bar.” With a huge smile, as is my norm, I responded with “I understand. But, just so you know we are happy to wait a very long time.” He laughed and then said his apologies again, and then as he said that he saw some people moving from the bar. He said, “You know what. We may be able to get you three seats together! Come with me.”

I happily followed him to the spot and was quickly joined by my guests. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Once they realized I was holding a cake AND that It was my birthday, they were even more excited they could get me a seat! I honestly felt like I had the royal treatment.

Cocktails and Conversation

Sometimes I think I should have gone into branding and marketing because I love seeing the fonts, colors and textures businesses decided to use, but then I’m reminded of how I barely made It through my 2-D design class in college. I am content to be here and simply appreciate those things! I ordered a delicious cocktail but for the life of me I cannot remember the name. It is not listed on their menu online, but It was a type of cappelletti cocktail. It was perfection. My friend ordered the dirty sister which she loved and my husband stuck with his usually glass of red wine.

Sister

You would have thought the three of us hadn’t seen each other in years, because we had so much to talk about the conversation was life giving. The setting of Sister Restaurant also played a part in encouraging our wonderful conversation with all of the art, collection pieces, and decor details. You just couldn’t help but feel at home and inspired.

The Meal at Sister Restaurant

I don’t order pasta every day, but It is one of my favorite meals! We started with the lobster burrata small plate. I’m not going to lie, when the plate was set before us I thought It was a little small, but It was so rich and decadent. It was perfect. Any more would have been too much. Everything on the menu is meant to be shared. We ordered the Pesto Fusilli, the Red Fish and the Calabrian Chili Ravioli. I would not go back without ordering the pesto pasta again. It was incredible. The red fish was also so good if you are in the mood for fish, you will not be disappointed. While the Calabrian Chili Ravioli had amazing flavor, It was not my favorite pasta, so It wouldn’t be at the top of my list. However, still delicious.

Sister

I am already planning my trip back to this fabulous restaurant.

Sister Restaurant is charming, delectable and unforgettable.
