Last Minute DIY Mother’s Day Gift

I did not realize how much I would love my little guy’s handprints and footprints! My friend showed me this cute idea and I just knew that I had to do it! All you need is a cute terra cotta pot, some acrylic paints and a brush! Super easy. If you want to put a plant in your pot you will also need a plant, potting soil, and a little water. I did learn the hard way by not putting newspaper down underneath us, or a drop cloth, or even doing this craft on the grass. So, please learn from my mistakes!

1] Gather your supplies and choose your paint colors. I also grabbed a little bucket of water and an old towel to wash and dry off Baby K’s feet and hands.

2] Paint the bottoms of your little ones feetsies and push them firmly onto the pot wherever you would like their footprints to be.

3] Paint your little’s hands one at a time and place them on the pot.

4] Once your little guy or gal has been cleaned off, you can paint the rim of the pot or the saucer. I always like to write the name of the kiddo and the year at the bottom of the pot so you can look back and see whose It was and how old they were. It’s fun when you keep these for awhile or give them as gifts.

Set your pot aside to dry.

5] After the paint is dried you can choose to plant a little plant with potting soil or just give the gift as is. I love the little kitchy, punny phrases so we planted dill in the pot and I wrote a little note that says “You’re the real dill!” You can plant all kinds of things in your pot… cacti, flowers, herbs, anything at all. The sky’s the limit!

Just 5 easy steps and you have made the cutest little potted plant!
