When I moved to Texas I had the honor of participating in a styled shoot which I LOVED! Not only did I love it because it was at a vineyard and it was gorgeous, but I got to meet other wedding vendors! I met Emily Howe and just instantly fell in love. Yes, with her, but also with her flowers! She is an amazing florist with a beautiful talent. I hope you enjoy reading my interview with her, seeing her adorable shop, and feasting on the fabulous eye candy that she creates. If you are looking for gorgeous flowers on your wedding day, Emily of Petals Couture is your girl!
1. WHEN WAS PETALS COUTURE ESTABLISHED AND HOW DID IT BECOME A BUSINESS?
My path in college brought me to the floral, wedding and event industry. On a leap of faith I decided to start my own business Petals Couture in 2012. I started by being part of an area bridal show and I was very surprised (and thrilled) how fast my business took off!
2. WHAT MAKES PETALS COUTURE STAND OUT AMONGST OTHER FLORISTS?
Petals Couture prides ourselves on quality, attention to the small details and a couture experience. I can create all kinds of styles from classic black tie affair to a simple backyard wedding. My background in retail and customer service makes me always want to go the extra mile for my clients. Their satisfaction with not only their wedding day designs but their experience while planning their wedding is a top priority of mine.
3. IF A WEDDING COUPLE BOOKED YOUR SERVICES, WHAT COULD THEY EXPECT THEIR PACKAGE TO INCLUDE? HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD THEY BOOK WITH YOU?
Petals Couture does not offer packages, each bride’s flowers and designs are hand picked. By customizing each brides vision we are able to give our brides the ultimate couture experience. By not offering packages I feel that I am able to create a unique experience because the bride is not limited to flower choices. It is best to book your florist 9 – 12 months in advance.
4. WHAT IS ONE THING THE READERS MAY BE SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT PETALS COUTURE?
One thing my clients love is to know that after their wedding any left over flowers are never thrown away. We donate them to a local cancer center in Plano, Texas. Every week I look forward to seeing the joy on the patients faces when I deliver the flowers and place them around the center.
5. HOW DO YOU HELP TO MAKE EACH WEDDING UNIQUE FOR EACH COUPLE?
I have each bride fill out an initial questionnaire before our first meeting and I love to get to know each bride on a personal level so I can get to know each bride’s style. I love being in business in McKinney because it feels like such a small community and we all work together! It has a small town community and charm that is simply wonderful.
6. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE READERS?
A few of my favorite things are my golden retriever Tilly, sandy beaches, Texas Tech University, good glass of champagne, Tory Burch flats, and anything Kendra Scott! My favorite flower is the ranunculus: its simple, full of petals, and very dramatic.
