Patriotic Sensory Play

Over the weekend, I put together a patriotic sensory play kit that I thought you may like! I hope you had a fun and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend! We had such a great time getting together with friends, creating things, and sneaking outside for as much sunshine as we could! While Kaden napped yesterday, Aaron and I were cleaning and I came across my craft supplies. Recently, I saw a red, white and blue sensory tin that I loved! So, I decided to see what we possibly had around the house that would be useful. It was impromptu, but I was surprised at how much I could find! The sensory tin came together perfectly! I thought I would share in case you are looking for some Fourth of July inspiration.

What You Need

The great thing about sensory play is that you don’t need much! And, we accumulate so many little things in our houses that we don’t even realize. Instead of tossing the tiny toys, I just stick them in a bin in the closet to use for things like this! Yesterday, it really came in handy for our patriotic sensory play!

Most of you have heard me talk about my favorite non-toxic play-dough recipe (click here to go to the recipe)! I usually have some already made in the fridge because it stores really well! I just happened to have blue and red already to go. So, I grabbed the dough and rounded up a few other craft items and small toys. I put all the items in a muffin tin, laid out a few sensory play tools and the patriotic sensory play activity was ready to go! What is a sensory tin without some tools? I added these to the table.

The Result

When Kaden’s friends arrived, there was silence as all three of them just sat or stood at the table enjoying the red, white, and blue sensory tin! As parents, we just looked at each other and said I can’t believe it’s this quiet… this is amazing!

Sometimes when I see moms post cute sensory bins they have made, I feel like I have to find those exact things, because they are so cute! But, I have realized that it is fun to make ours just a little bit different and reuse toys we already have in a fresh way!
