Milestone Photos with Beckham Anderson
I love taking milestone photos, but It is even more fun when the subject of my photos is my nephew! I had the pleasure of photographing the Anderson family; Heather, Collin and Beckham (we call him Beckham Boy) for Beckham’s first birthday! I year of life is a huge milestone! Babies change so much over those 365 days, and I am always so excited to take a child’s 1 year photos! Plus, a session with a one year old usually means cake!
Props for Milestone Photos
Beckham had just celebrated his first birthday, so Heather brought a few of the decorations from the party. I thought this was a great idea! From the party she brought a balloon garland and some balloons on strings. These were so fun to put on the ground and let Beckham play with.
Collin and Heather also brought a small rocking chair for Beckham’s milestone photos that was actually Collin’s when he was little. I think It adds the perfect personal touch when you incorporate a bit of nostalgia! And the photos with the rocking chair turned out so well!
Family Photos During Milestone Photos
Beckham’s 1 year milestone photos are of course about him, but his wonderful parents were there every step of the way. So, as the photographer I always love to take a few family photos too!
Showing Off at Milestone Photos
I also love to give the star of the show a chance to show off all of his or her new skills! At the time of his milestone photos, Beckham was crawling, standing and walking while holding onto a stool. These skills are important for me to document. And, I had to make sure to get a few little details as well… his little fingers, hair and tiny tippy toes!
Smash Cake Finale
It’s also so fun to watch the 1 year olds react to the cake. Beckham was not as into the cake as some, so his parents joined those photos and I really love how that turned out! It mirrors the smash cake at the first birthday party with parents watching nearby. Everything turned out beautifully! And, we all loved the new location we found!
