Kid’s Activities | Fun Friday Roundup

Being a stay at home mom can be overwhelming. All of a sudden you find yourself with the cutest little shadow. And, if you are like me you want something fun to do with them that is easy to set up. That is my goal for Fun Friday’s! Here are some of our latest kid’s activities to try at home.

We don’t do these activities every day, but we do them once a week to mix things up! We also try to get out of the house and explore the great outdoors. You can find more of our Fun Friday Fun on instagram, but here is our Fun Friday roundup of recent activities.

Whipped Cream Bath

Whipped Cream Bath// This one was so fun and entirely simple to set up. All you need is a can of whipped cream and a bath tub! Some people like to use shaving cream as a good bath and sensory play, but Cole is 1 year old and still taste testing every single item he touches. So, whipped cream was the perfect ingredient for him!

Be prepared for them to eat the whipped cream… like probably the entire can! If sweets are not your jam, I would stay away from this one. For us, It was a great go-to activity during a rainy day! The kids made mustaches, t-shirts, smeared It on the walls, and licked It all up!

This was a hit! It lasted for a very long time (great longevity) and It was the first thing they told their dad about when they got home. I definitely recommend a whipped cream bath! Obviously, you have to be right there to watch them by the water. So this activity isn’t fully independent, but It is truly fun!

Kid's Activities

Apple Washing

Apple Washing// Apply washing sounds so simple and It really is! All we needed was a bucket, water, and a brush. I had some fruit and veggie wash so I let Kaden use that to add to the fun! We went outside so that they could splash around. I was planning to make apple pie, so I had lots of apples that needed cleaning, but you could do this with any fruit really! As long as you’re ok with them sneaking a few bites! (Collie got fired because I really wanted to use these for the pies, but on a normal day I would have loved for him to play and snack).

This activity entertained Kaden for a surprising amount of time! I was in the kitchen while he played on the patio with the apples.

Kid's Activities

Yogurt Painting

Yogurt Painting// This idea I found in a book from the library. They suggested yogurt painting as an indoor idea, but I know my kids and that would’ve been a disaster. If you think your kids will stick to painting the paper, then It would be great for entertaining your kids in the kitchen while you do dishes or prep food, or whatever is needed. But, if you have a Collie who would rather paint his entire body, I recommend taking this one outside.

You don’t need much for this activity either. I bought a really inexpensive yogurt at the store that was on sale, we used food coloring, spoons, and ice cube try and paint brushes. You can let them paint something outside, or I chose to tape butcher paper to the wall… you could also just roll It on the floor!

Preparing the paint and mixing the colors is an activity in itself! It was so fun! Kaden (3) was really good at squirting the food coloring and mixing colors. He thought that was fun!

kid's activities excavation

Toy Excavation

Toy Excavation// This was great! It had a little more prep than I usually do for activities, but It seemed so fun! It was a great activity for the kids, but It did take awhile to melt. We were in the shade, but I feel like if I would have moved them to the sun, It would have sped up the process.

For this activity, you need some Tupperware and some little plastic toys, water and a freezer. I put the toys in the container and poured water to just cover them, froze that, then layered some more toys and water. This way the toys were all over the ice block.

Once It was frozen, we went outside and the kids gathered their toy drills, hammers, and any tools they could find to help free the animals! It was very fun, I couldn’t help but get in there and help get things moving a little faster.

kid's activities dance party

Dance Party

Dance Party// Who doesn’t love a good dance party?? This is one of the most simple activities for littles! All you need is some music. We have a record player that Kaden loves to go choose records and push play. His current favorite album is George Straight, so I gave him Aaron’s cowboy hat to dance around in. It was so entertaining for me, too! He’s so funny!

Fort Worth Zoo

Fort Worth Zoo// The zoo is always a great Fun Friday activity and It takes up most of your morning! If you are local to the DFW area, the Fort Worth Zoo is seriously so amazing! You will not regret the drive! We also have passes to the Dallas Zoo which is so fun, too! We usually go early in the morning while it’s cool and then pack a lunch to save a little money while we are there. The boys love It!
