Kaden’s First Easter

Easter Sunday 2020_1002

Easter Sunday was so wonderful! I have said this before, but I just LOVE getting to experience things with Kaden for the first time. Easter Sunday was no different. Even though this Easter was a little different than previous Easter celebrations, we were still celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. I love a good family tradition, and so we still “went to church” online and enjoyed our Easter brunch after.

I LOVE making sticky buns for brunch! Our family friends made them often and she gifted me the recipe and a bundt pan when we got married! They are so delicious and so EASY to make! I will include the recipe at the bottom of this post. We also enjoyed a couple mimosas, and we tried a new recipe from the Magnolia Table Cookbook, the Eggs Benedict Casserole. That one may stick around as an Easter staple! It was so yummy! It has enough butter to kill ya, but it’s so good. Of course, I ordered an Easter basket pie from my favorite ladies at Bonafide Betties! It did not disappoint.

We enjoyed our brunch and then let Kaden look through his Easter basket. It was so fun to see him pulling out the little gifts that were handpicked for him. It was fun to read the Easter books with him too! He loves to help turn the pages and my little bookworm self can’t wait to see if he actually likes to read. I sure hope so!

Easter Sunday 2020_1000

We spent hours on the porch just talking. We FaceTimed many friends and family members. And, we just enjoyed our day. I have to say that this slower pace of life is really amazing. Please don’t misunderstand me. I do not like what is going on in the world around us, but I am so happy to have more time with my family. I have really seen the benefits of time for relaxation and not being rushed to go anywhere or do anything. Of course I would love to go to Target just to wander though the aisles again, but right now I am so grateful for time. And, I really do think God is at work within this time.

Time is a funny thing. We really always have the same amount of time in a day, but sometimes It feels like we have more or less… but that is just due to what we choose to spend It on. We always have the same amount of time. What we do with It is up to us. This Easter was beautiful in its own way. I really feel like God has grabbed my heart again and this Easter getting to celebrate what he did for us on the cross took on more meaning. I am so excited to one day share with Kaden about his heavenly father and how Jesus died on the cross for his sins. Easter will only continue to be more fun with this little guy.

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter Sunday with your families! He is Risen!
