My name is Meggie Taylor and I am a wifey to a cowboy and a mom to a little white lab. My husband Aaron and I were recently married and moved to a small town called Rockwall, Texas (just outside of Dallas). When I packed up and moved, my passion for photography was reignited. With this fresh start, came new locations, friendly people, and an uncontainable love for this industry. I am a free spirit who loves to adventure! If it is new, I want to try it. I love anything sweet and chocolaty, well, I just love food! Aaron and I are enjoying making a home together, and I’m enjoying decorating our new house. Gus, our lab, enjoys making it dirty and chewing up anything he can reach. We love to go out and spend time with friends and family outdoors, but we also love lounging around, chatting, making dinner together and watching our shows.
For as long as I can remember, my mom was taking pictures of me and my sister. Over and over she would say, “smile” or “look over here” and we would. We got really good at turning our smile on and off. I can remember almost always asking for the camera to take a picture, “Can I take one?” I would ask. This was the day of film and the beginning of digital so it wasn’t like I just pulled out my iPhone to snap a quick photo. It was a big deal to be the one holding the camera. As I took more and more pictures, I realized I loved using the camera! I loved the sound the shutter made as it opened and closed real quickly. I loved that I could frame the world in my own way.
Then, I took a film class in college. This is when I fell in love. I was challenged to look at the world differently and to tell stories with my images, later watching them come to life again in the darkroom. This is when I realized the power that photos have. They weren’t just fragments in time; they were pieces of a story. And when placed with other photos, they speak up. They express the feelings in that sliver of time and allow you to revisit them. I knew I wanted to use photos to save those feelings and tell stories for others, so they can relive their wonderful memories and enjoy the feelings of a specific day and time over again as if they were there for the first time. And, my goal is to make them feel comfortable while they are in front of my camera.
