That Perfect Easter Dress By Angela Darnell of The Thrifty Pineapple

Hello everyone! I’m Angela from the fashion and lifestyle blog Thrifty Pineapple. I met Meggie at a recent styled engagement shoot and she asked me to share a little bit about Easter dress shopping. Easter is right around the corner it’s time to get those spring dresses out of the back of your closet or better yet start spring off right with a new dress.

Growing up Easter was my favorite holiday. I love all the colors and as a little girl I LOVED going shopping with my mom for a new dress. This holiday always embarked the start of wearing white (even though that rule is a thing of the past).

Now that I’m older I still love the tradition of shopping for a new Easter dress. When looking for a dress I put into account three things fabric, color and coverage.

Since it’s starting to warm up or in Texas already has warmed up. Looking for fabric that breathes is a must. I love seersucker because it screams spring and is a southern must have. One warning, seersucker fabric wrinkles very easily, but it’s part of the look so go ahead and embrace it. Another great fabric for spring is eyelet, this dress is perfect because it incorporates the best of both world. More springs fabrics to look for are linen, lightweight cotton or a breathable spandex.

Easter is filled with pastels so feel free to go for a fun spring pattern or a pastel. If you are feeling bolder opt for an unexpected blue like I did here. You could also go the route of hot pink, orange or lavender.

Lastly, this is a dress to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ so make sure to keep it conservative. For me I’m comfortable bearing my shoulders for my church, but if you aren’t and you find the perfect strapless dress you can always a lightweight shawl or summer scarf. Also make the the length isn’t too short when you sit down. Since the majority of church services are sitting you don’t want to have your dress riding up to an embarrassing length.

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you found this helpful and inspirational when shopping for your Easter dress.

Special thanks to… Sundance Square and all of their adorable shops and restaurants!! Thanks for hosting our shoot. If you haven’t been yet, it’s a great place to shop and grab a bite to eat!
